Teaching Philosophy

The thing I love most about teaching is being able to share my passion for learning. When a teacher exudes passion, their students share in their excitement. Passion is motivating. Teaching touches lives, and I am proud of my role in engaging students in a love of learning.

Grade 2 Highlights (English)

English Language: We examine the elements of a fairy tale and then write one of our own.  We read-a-loud and discuss four novels, including George’s Marvelous Medicine by Roald Dahl.

Math: We use a variety of strategies to represent, explain, and memorize our multiplication and division facts.

Science: We explore the ways in which air and water are used by living things to help them meet their basic needs. We take a trip to the Children’s Groundwater Festival to consolidate what we’ve learned about air and water in the environment.

Social Studies: We take a virtual trip across Canada to learn more about the great country in which we live. We celebrate that Canada is a country of many interesting cultures.

Art: We learn about several famous artists and create work inspired by them. After studying Monet, we create the famous “Bridge over a Pond of Water Lilies”.
