Family Testimonials

KWBS has been a family that we’ve been so happy to be a part of.

From the introduction that all 3 of our kids had in A class through to the academic focus of Grade 8, the school has fulfilled all of their learning needs. The teachers have been so nurturing and have really brought out a passion for learning in our children. As a parent, you want nothing more than for your children to be happy and KWBS has made that a reality.

We have been consistently impressed by the personalized attention the teachers at KWBS provided for our children at all levels.

In 2007, we enrolled our oldest child in Junior Kindergarten when she was three.  It is now 2017 - our oldest daughter has started high school and our other two children are in Grade 7 and Grade 4.  We have been consistently impressed by the personalized attention the teachers at KWBS provide for our children.  In Kindergarten and early grades, the teachers were kind and patient but also had high expectations for the kids.  As they progressed, the teachers would offer extra teaching or activities for interested students, such as geography club, math tutoring, putting on musical productions or even recommending and discussing novels written for native Francophones. There were opportunities to become involved in or initiate charity events designed to help local organizations like the Humane Society.  The class size of 12-20 students with two teachers per class ensured that each student received individual attention and teachers were always available to meet with us to address any concerns we had.  All of our kids are conversant in French and have had great academic success. Our oldest continues to do very well academically in high school.

Our daughter is now in Grade 5 – and we are so happy with our choice.

When we were considering schools for our daughter in Junior Kindergarten, a colleague recommended KWBS.  We believe that having a second language is important (even though our own French is limited).  With both of us working longer hours, we loved the offer of extended before-and-after care at such a nominal cost. Our daughter is now in Grade 5 - and we are so happy with our choice. In particular, the size of the school, the quality of the teachers, plus the emphasis on character building as a key part of the curriculum have been excellent. Having extracurriculars such as the music program, karate, and chess available at the school (often during regular school hours), has been a godsend from a work and family balance standpoint. We can’t recommend KWBS highly enough!

The quality of the program continues to impress us each year, in both academics and character building.

We're thrilled with our experience at K-W Bilingual School. From small class sizes to attentive staff, our children receive both help and enrichment, when needed. As a tech safety expert, I appreciate the emphasis on using technology as a tool to supplement the programs but not as a fundamental part of the class. Kids have lots of time to learn about tech as they age, so it is refreshing to see the elementary kids focusing on basics and cores skills, including cursive writing. The quality of the program continues to impress us each year, in both academics and character building.

I am a very proud KWBS Mom!

We first elected to send our girls to KWBS based on the school’s academic excellence and strong bilingual French program.  We liked that each subject is taught in both languages.  When we first toured the school, I noticed an older (middle school) student talking to and helping a kindergarten child.  As well, all the teachers knew each child by name. The sense of community and altruism was obvious.  In addition to a high level of academic merit, our girls have enjoyed the public speaking, plays, great music program, and other extra-curricular activities offered by KWBS.  My girls love going to school every day and we are all proud to be members of the K-W Bilingual School family!

Student Testimonials

The K-W Bilingual School provided me with an excellent foundation as a student and the tools to become a successful and respectable citizen.

As I made the often-difficult transition to high school this year, there were so many ways that being a graduate of the Kitchener-Waterloo Bilingual School helped me to thrive in my new environment. My experiences at the Bilingual School prepared me in multiple ways for secondary school. Throughout my 8 years spent there I was taught how to communicate efficiently and fluently in another language, how to be an open-minded and respectful student and most importantly, I received the assistance I needed to develop a strong and perseverant work ethic. These are just some of the many ways that the Kitchener-Waterloo Bilingual School has given me the confidence to succeed at the Kitchener-Waterloo Collegiate and Vocational Institute.

Attending the Kitchener-Waterloo Bilingual School helped me to gain so many useful skills that I will be able to use not only in the classrooms of KCI, but throughout my entire life. The French Program delivered at the Bilingual School is, in my opinion, spectacular. Not only did I learn how to write fluently in French, but throughout years of practice with the language in subjects like math, science, etc. I can also communicate in in French clearly and easily. This wonderful gift of bilingualism has helped me to flourish in all of my French classes at KCI, and will provide me with so many opportunities in the future. The Bilingual School also helped me to develop a strong work ethic and a responsible, positive attitude in class. The years I spent working with talented and student-oriented teachers continue to drive me to achieve success in school. I am confident in saying that the KWBS modeled for my peers and me a strong and professional work ethic.

Had I not attended the Kitchener-Waterloo Bilingual School, I would have missed out on so many amazing opportunities. I know that because of all the positive experiences and important skills I obtained from my eight years spent at the school, I will not only be able to accomplish great things in high school, but will go on to accomplish great things for the rest of my life. The Kitchener-Waterloo Bilingual School not only provided me with an excellent foundation as a student but it also gave me the tools to become a successful and respectable citizen with the potential to do absolutely anything.
