Our students explore dramatic arts from kindergarten through to the end of Grade 8. They begin with role-play songs, games and dances in the early years and progress to theatrical presentation for an audience.

In Grade five, students are delighted to explore the world of theatre and performance in French. Traditionally, in the third term, each class presents their version of a play based on a fairy tale. The students are involved in all stages of the process: writing, staging, costume and set design and performing. We usually invite other grades to watch the final production of our plays in the month of June. Previous shows include: "Roule galette", "La fête des contes", "Peau d'ane",  "La belle et la bête", "le Cendrillon", etc.

In the last term, the students of grades 7 and 8 study a Shakespeare play, determined by the program available at Stratford each year. It has long been a tradition at the school to study the play and then to enjoy a wonderful performance of that play presented by a world-class troupe in Stratford.

Also, every year the grade 7 and 8 students, under the direction of Mrs. Strong, put together an operetta that is the #1 event of the season. The senior students participate as performers, stage managers and the technical crew to produce and present a very entertaining show. We look forward to this event every year.

For more information about the Operetta, please see our "Enrichment" section.
