Francophonie Day

Each year around the 20th of March, we celebrate the International Day of the Francophonie. It is an occasion to learn more about different aspects of the French speaking countries: about their geography, history, culture, traditions, gastronomy; and it is also an occasion to develop our French language competence. Teachers in kindergarten and grades 1 & 2 prepare different activities in the class and in the gymnasium. Students in grades 3 to 8, organized in "houses", participate in activities prepared by a French teacher together with grade 7 students. These activities include: interactive presentations, smart board games on different cultural themes, French cuisine, French music, dance, the games of the Francophonie in our gymnasium, etc. Students from the main floor visit and get a preview of the workshops organized for grades 3 to 8. We usually end the day with some French baguette and cheese tasting.
